In spite of being the European Capital of Culture in 2009, Vilnius was difficult to get to last year. Many flights were terminated. We are all optimistically hopeful for the situation to improve this year. Due to some major renovation and restructuring Vilnius airport underwent recently, it now has the potential to become the most rapidly growing airport in the region.

   SAS resumed flights from Vilnius to Copenhagen on January 11th, with two daily flights operated by the modern Bombardier CRJ900 aircrafts.

   Air Baltic restarted flights to Germany (Munich & Berlin) and Amsterdam. In addition, from end of March Air Baltic will operate the route to Oslo (4 flights weekly) by Boeing 737.

   Moreover, Estonian Air will offer flights to Amsterdam whereas Star 1 Airlines will expand connections to Great Britain (London, Dublin and Edinburgh).

   Due to many renewed flights and hotels adjusting their pricing policy, Vilnius has a much better chance of attracting more visitors this year.
